What is Interior Design?
Interior design is the professional and comprehensive practice of creating an interior environment that addresses, protects, and responds to human needs. In layman’s terms, we personalize your space making it unique and comfortable for you while also meeting all your needs.
But is it really THAT important?
Are Mental Health and Interior Design Connected?
Believe it or not, Interior Design can have a profound impact on your mental health. Let me explain. Ever walk into a chic hotel lobby playing soft music and it immediately calms your spirits? Or did a loud restaurant with bright lights make you cut your dinner short?
Poorly executed design can lead to an unsettling feeling in a space. There are multiple factors involved in an emotional response to a space, however many of them stem from the design. I challenge you to observe your surroundings next time you’re out at dinner.
Design Tips to Live Better
1. Find Your Style. Mixing styles is a quick way to lose consistency in design. Industrial table with French provincial chairs and a boho buffet will cause confusion. Search the web for design styles and see what you gravitate towards. Does your home and furniture currently match your preferred style? If not, I’m here to help!
2. Declutter & Show Those Baseboards. This may be the most fruitful exercise you can do. It’s easy for clutter to pile up or multiple furniture purchases to take over the room. Give yourself and your house more breathing room by decluttering and showing those baseboards.
3. Light Bulb Color Matters. Light bulbs are measured by their color temperature in Kelvin. 2200K is warm candlelight and 6500K represents bright blue daylight. The ideal color for a relaxing living room space is 2700K Warm White. In the kitchen, a 3000K light is better for a task light. If you have anything above 3500K in your house, do yourself a favor and swap those for a lower, warmer Kelvin.
